ELEMENTARY GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING

The Elementary Guidance and Counseling Program is an integral part of the educational program by providing support, guidance and life skills. Its structure is three-pronged, providing services for:

  • Information and Prevention
  • Development and Support
  • Intervention and Redirection

Support may be requested from the counselor through: self-referral, parent referral or teacher referral. Services are provided through individual counseling, small groups and classroom presentations.

Classroom presentations focus around different character traits each month. Monthly, one trait will be covered with guidance lessons in all grade levels focusing on that topic. Traits to be covered include responsibility, respect, citizenship, compassion, fairness, honesty, courage, goal setting, and personal safety. As these topics are covered throughout the year, the counseling program also provides positive reinforcement through fun programs such as the weekly Jag Café and monthly Super Jags.

If you or your child needs help throughout the year, please don’t hesitate the school counselor, Becky Greenleaf, at 601-856-2951.
