The goal of
the music program at MAE is to get the children “hooked” on
music so that they not only enjoy listening to music, but
also become active participants in making music…not just for
the years that they are here but throughout their lives.
Over the course of 3 years, the students learn about the
steady beat, rhythm, pitch, movement and reading a simple
line of music. This is accomplished through playing games,
singing, dancing, performing in programs,
playing percussion
instruments and playing the recorder.
Music is a
powerful teaching/learning tool and whenever possible, as
part of the school’s integrated Arts program, the material
being taught in the Music Room ties in with the unit of
study being taught in the classroom.
